Undeclared

I still have no idea what I’m going to do when I grow up and I love to have a fun athletic adventure and then throw it all away and follow a completely different whim. It would probably help me make more money in my work and likely get me further in a chosen fitness pursuit, but something keeps me unnameable and undeclared.

Like Nick Carraway in The Great Gatsby, I tend to see life less efficiently, less focused, and like his father told him in the opening page of the book, I try to be less judgy. The benefit results in a practice of seeing a whole situation. Of course I suffer some “veteran bores,” but having a multiplicity of experiences allows a dropping into almost any conversation and recognizing a harmonic pattern with other, previous interests. This unoptimized approach tempers a tendency to fixate on the trees at the cost of the forest. I also lose some of the forest as I keep an eye on the trees. The trail, however, is clear between the two.

This week was a deload / cut-back week

I did my best to stay off of my feet. I kept most of my workouts yawningly slow. Most days this week were also 18 or 20 intermittant fasted and keto when I did eat, which I can see the result of in the mirror in a very short time. On the days I did eat carbs, I tried to keep them in the Primal Blueprint maintenance range. The big win this week was cutting back on alcohol. Instead of having a glass or two of something most nights, most nights I had something else, like LMNT sparkling or a kombucha on carb days. If we are going by feel, I feel great moving into this next building phase and fully feel the benefits of having deload weeks as part of the building process.

Cut-back Week 4

Mostly

That seems to be the operating word. After following the MAF for two week diet, I am mostly keto or Primal Blueprint and tinkering with what works with ever changing demands. I am in bed by 9 most of the time. I am trying to have most of my days be alcohol free. I am writing most days. In the balance of sometimes and mostly, I am trying to move habits that are fine in moderation to sometimes, and ones that are moving me towards feeling great in my body to mostly.

Stats this week:

  • 52.5 Total Miles on My Feet

  • Deloaded Long Day was 2 hours very very easy almost all walking.

  • 5 total work outs, most of them I spent working on walking faster

  • Added more resistance into the programming, reverse treadmill (and uphill backwards), more lifting, even if it’s just hopping on a a squat machine. I am doing short bouts of push, pull, squat, and core stability most days that I am also running. Maybe I will build up to lifting heavy, but like the rest of my plan, the slower I get there the better.
